Michael Airgood will be joining us as a guest preacher on Sunday, October 13th 2024!
Michael Airgood worked as a United Methodist Global Ministries Missionary in Ukraine for years before pastoring United Methodist churches in the Mon Valley for a decade. They recently returned from spending a few months in Ukraine reconnecting with Ukrainian friends, language, and culture. Michael has a loving family; church organist mother Debbie, medical provider sister Rebecca, red-headed not-twin nephews Hemi and Warn, and perfect all-white pit-bull improbably named Scooby Doo. Michael’s education was wonderfully diverse growing up in a rural school district in Kane, PA, traveling as an exchange student to Konakovo, Russia, studying Mission and Intercultural Studies at Toccoa Falls College, completing the MDiv program at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and even taking a few classes through the former Moscow United Methodist Seminary. Honored as a 2023 Allies for Health + Wellbeing Bright Young Person for community engagement and working for full inclusion in the UMC, Michael’s hobbies include writing, singing, and translating Ukrainian poetry.
Michael encourages First Church to donate to Ukraine through Global Ministries’ Advance where 100% of the gift goes directly to the UMC in Ukraine.
