BAPTISMS
Whether the individual to be baptized is an infant, child, youth or adult, baptism is the entrance into the life journey as a follower of Jesus.
Jesus was baptized as he began his public ministry.
“Entrance into the church is acknowledged in baptism…In baptism, water is administered in the name of the triune God (God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit) by a clergy person, and the Holy Spirit is invoked…Baptism is ordinarily in the presence of the congregation.”
In this sacrament God’s promise is claimed, and the church takes on the responsibility for the care and nurture of the person baptized.
